I pity the racist, fool

I don't give AF about who you worship. Politically, religiously, or sexually. However seeing people support certain actions that are blatantly based on hate, anger, ignorance, or misunderstanding is actually disappointing. It's disappointing that as a person of religion, you don't lead in love and compassion for those who have concerns. Especially since so many of you all were fearful for the last 4 years for our country. It's disappointing that as a mother, father, or guardian you aren't passing along the values our military had supposedly fought for: the freedom to be you. It's disappointing that rather than trying to bridge the gap with empathy and accountability, you expand it with unwelcoming actions and abandonment of the very people who helped put food on your tables, music in your soul, and more health and science innovations we could ever ask for.

I hate racism. I will call you out every time. But I can acknowledge that a lot of it comes from a place of fear, pride, and misunderstandings (ignorance is a triggering word). I have so many people in my life who have done or said racist stuff. They are still in my life because they listened from a place of empathy and understanding and evolved. A wise woman once told me that she has pity for the racists. It must be hard being told your whole life that the world is a certain way by the people you love and trust the most (your family and loved ones) and then the rest of the world telling you that all your views are sh*t. That has to be a confusing place to be in. If a woman who was beaten by racists in Watts, CA in the 70s can say that, a homeboy who grew up in Douglas County, OR with no POC can move forward from what they saw on TV or heard from their Granny or their political daddy.
